Protection Officer – Legal Aid

About the role

The Protection Officer (Legal Aid) works within the Danish Refugee Council’s Syria programme to provide essential legal assistance to displaced persons, returnees and host communities. Reporting to the Protection Team Leader and under the technical supervision of the Legal Aid Specialist, the officer ensures that individuals receive accurate legal counseling, information and support in line with humanitarian protection standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct legal assistance, counseling and information to individuals and communities in need.
• Support the implementation of legal aid activities and contribute to legal analysis.
• Ensure delivery of quality legal services and uphold protection standards.
• Assist in developing and disseminating legal information materials.
• Strengthen legal referral pathways and coordinate with partners and authorities.

Required profile

• Experience working in protection or legal aid within humanitarian contexts.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Protection Team Leader and a Legal Aid Specialist.
• Strong commitment to humanitarian principles and protection standards.
