About the role

The Director of Advocacy, Campaigns, Communications & Media leads Save the Children’s advocacy and media strategy in Syria. Reporting to the Country Director, this senior position shapes public and private advocacy, designs high‑impact campaigns, and oversees media output to raise the profile of children’s rights in a large‑scale emergency context.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an integrated advocacy and communications strategy aligned with organisational goals.
• Lead high‑visibility campaigns that influence policy, protect children and improve humanitarian response.
• Manage relationships with government, UN agencies, donors, NGOs and the media.
• Oversee crisis communications, media relations and production of quality media content.
• Guide a multidisciplinary team covering media, policy, child‑rights governance and communications.
• Monitor and evaluate advocacy impact, reporting results to senior leadership.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of progressive experience in advocacy, campaigns, communications or media within INGOs, including large‑scale emergency responses.
• Proven track record influencing International Humanitarian Law and child‑rights policy.
• Experience engaging with coordination mechanisms such as OCHA, clusters and HCTs.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams in high‑pressure environments.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.
