Director of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships

About the role

The Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships will lead the identification, cultivation and management of strategic alliances with donors, INGOs, local NGOs, private‑sector entities and other stakeholders to expand Violet’s impact in Syria. Based in Damascus, this full‑time, on‑site position reports to senior management and plays a key role in shaping the organization’s funding strategy and partnership portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and secure new funding opportunities from institutional donors, private foundations and corporate partners.
• Develop and lead the preparation of concept notes, proposals and grant applications aligned with Violet’s mission and sector priorities.
• Negotiate partnership agreements, ensure compliance with donor requirements and monitor performance against targets.
• Represent Violet in high‑level coordination forums, donor meetings and public events.
• Collaborate with program, MEAL, finance and communications teams to design and package impactful initiatives.
• Maintain a robust pipeline of partnership prospects and provide regular reporting to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development, fundraising or resource mobilization within humanitarian, development or nonprofit sectors.
• Demonstrated success in securing institutional and private funding.
• Strong understanding of humanitarian principles, localization and the Syrian response context.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
• Ability to translate field evidence and community needs into fundable program concepts.
