DWDM & IP/MPLS Planner (Damascus)

About the role

Silklink is looking for a DWDM & IP/MPLS Planner to design, optimise and document the integrated optical transport and IP‑MPLS network across its backbone, metro and edge infrastructure. The role is based in Damascus and focuses on delivering implementation‑ready network plans that meet capacity, protection and synchronization requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop end‑to‑end DWDM and IP‑MPLS network plans covering backbone, metro, aggregation, edge and inter‑site connectivity.
• Translate traffic forecasts and service requirements into wavelength, OTN, router, link and interface capacity plans.
• Design optical paths, protection schemes, ROADM/OADM usage, power budgets and regeneration needs.
• Plan multilayer protection and resiliency across DWDM, OTN, Ethernet (G.8032/ERPS) and IP‑MPLS routing.
• Define synchronization requirements using SyncE and IEEE 1588v2/PTP.
• Coordinate with fiber, DWDM, IP‑MPLS, operations and vendor teams to align transport readiness with logical service routing.
• Produce planning outputs such as wavelength allocation, equipment requirements, logical diagrams and migration packs.
• Validate existing inventory and support reconciliation with NMS/EMS platforms.

Required profile

• Strong background in designing and planning DWDM and IP‑MPLS networks.
• Experience with optical transport technologies, wavelength planning and multilayer protection.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and translate business requirements into technical designs.

Required skills

• DWDM, OTN, ROADM (including CDC‑F), Flex Grid, super‑channels
• IP‑MPLS, MPLS‑LSP, SR‑MPLS, SR‑TE
• VLAN, VRF, EVPN L2/L3, E‑Line, E‑LAN, QoS
• G.8032/ERPS Ethernet protection
• SyncE, IEEE 1588v2/PTP synchronization
• DDoS protection, DPI, routing security, network segmentation
