Head of Mission – Syria (M/F)

About the role

Secours Islamique France (SIF) is seeking a Head of Mission for its operations in Syria. Reporting to the Desk Manager, the incumbent will provide overall leadership, strategic direction and operational oversight for SIF’s humanitarian programmes in a complex and evolving context.

Key responsibilities

• Lead programme development, implementation and team management, ensuring coordination and adaptation to the Syrian humanitarian environment.
• Guarantee compliance with SIF policies, procedures, security standards and quality requirements.
• Represent SIF with local authorities, donors and key stakeholders to strengthen relationships and safeguard the organisation’s position.
• Drive resource mobilisation, identify funding opportunities and implement donor engagement and fundraising strategies.
• Monitor the humanitarian situation, provide timely updates, strategic recommendations and lessons learned to headquarters.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of higher education in international cooperation, humanitarian project management or a related field.
• At least five years of field experience, including a minimum of two years as Head of Mission or equivalent senior role.
• Strong analytical abilities in security and humanitarian contexts, rigorous professionalism and the capacity to respond rapidly in emergencies.
• Excellent written and spoken English; French is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
• Mastery of project cycle management tools.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term contract of six months, renewable.
• Salary aligned with SIF’s salary grid, monthly per diem/guesthouse allowance.
• Health insurance (60% contribution by SIF) and full repatriation insurance.
• Break allowance at 3 and 9 months, and paid airfare to and from the mission location after 6 and 12 months.
