Shelter and Settlement Team Leader

About the role

The Shelter & Settlement Team Leader will join the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Syria Shelter and Settlement Unit. The role involves field visits across the governorate, assessing schools, collective shelters and unfinished buildings for rehabilitation, and supporting WASH settlement activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement work plans for shelter, school and WASH settlement rehabilitation projects.
• Conduct field assessments of schools, collective shelters and unfinished structures.
• Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities for rehabilitation works.
• Monitor the implementation of rehabilitation works carried out by contractors.
• Liaise with local authorities to obtain necessary approvals for DRC rehabilitation activities.
• Verify and identify buildings eligible for rehabilitation.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian shelter or settlement projects, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Knowledge of construction and rehabilitation processes.
• Ability to work safely in insecure environments and adapt to changing security conditions.
• Strong coordination skills for working with local authorities and contractors.
