Social Worker (Psychological Services)

About the role

The Independent Doctors Association (IDA) is seeking a Social Worker to join its primary health centre in the Afiah area of northern Idlib, Syria. The role focuses on delivering psychological assistance to internally displaced persons and host‑community members affected by conflict and displacement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line psychological aid to individuals and families during waves of displacement.
• Deliver counseling and support aimed at reducing smoking, alcohol, and drug use.
• Conduct individual and group sessions to address trauma, stress, and other mental‑health concerns.
• Collaborate with medical staff and humanitarian teams to integrate psychosocial care into health services.
• Document interventions and outcomes in accordance with IDA reporting standards.

Required profile

• Experience working in humanitarian or conflict‑affected settings, preferably with displaced populations.
• Ability to provide culturally sensitive psychological support.
• Strong communication skills in Arabic and English.
• Commitment to IDA’s non‑discriminatory humanitarian principles.
