Civil Engineer

About the role

The Civil Engineer will lead the delivery of high‑quality infrastructure projects by providing technical expertise, supervising works, and ensuring compliance with design, safety and HSSE standards. This role coordinates day‑to‑day design, construction and procurement activities, working closely with implementing partners, contractors and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and manage civil engineering projects from design to completion, ensuring alignment with project requirements, timelines and budgets.
• Support the Project Manager in scheduling, implementing rehabilitation, construction and infrastructure activities.
• Prepare project plans, schedules, progress reports and assist with project closure.
• Liaise with government authorities, beneficiaries and other stakeholders to secure permits and maintain strong relationships.
• Review design briefs, technical documentation, bills of quantity and cost estimates for compliance with international standards and UNOPS guidelines.
• Conduct on‑site technical assessments, inspections and quality checks to ensure work meets specifications.
• Monitor performance tracking systems, identify potential delays or cost overruns and support valuation of construction work for payment certificates.
• Ensure full compliance with HSSE policies, environmental safeguards and PSEAH standards, identifying and mitigating related risks.

• Strong technical expertise in civil engineering design and construction management.
• Proactive resource management and ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders effectively.
• Commitment to integrity, transparency and adherence to HSSE and PSEAH requirements.
• Experience supervising contractors and implementing partners to deliver quality, cost‑effective outcomes.
