Data Architect – Damascus, Syria

About the role

The Data Architect will own the end‑to‑end data architecture of a platform that manages project, procurement, asset, work order, financial and telecom validation data. Based in Damascus, this full‑time onsite position requires strong technical leadership to ensure data quality, auditability and seamless integration with enterprise systems.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain both logical and physical data models for project delivery, procurement, BOQ, work orders, implementation, as‑built, acceptance, assets, invoicing and handover.
• Establish data ownership, master data rules, reference data, validation rules and data quality controls.
• Design data flows between the platform and ERP, IAM, network, planning/design, inventory and reporting systems.
• Lead data migration from legacy applications, including mapping, cleansing, transformation, loading, validation and reconciliation.
• Design reporting and archival structures for operational and historical data, ensuring auditability, lineage, retention and regulatory compliance.
• Support PostgreSQL or other enterprise database performance through indexing, partitioning, clustering, backup, recovery and query optimisation.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to standardise data definitions for reporting, operations, finance and audit.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in data architecture, enterprise data management, database design, data integration or data migration.
• Proven experience designing data architecture for large transactional platforms.
• Strong background with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle or SQL Server.
• Experience with ERP data integration, especially purchase orders, invoices, fixed assets and financial data.

Required skills

• Data modelling and logical/physical architecture design.
• PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server (including clustering and high‑availability).
• Data migration, ETL/ELT processes and data validation.
• API payload design and integration.
• Data quality, master data management and data lineage.
• Reporting and archival solutions, Power BI, data warehousing and lakehouse concepts.
• Knowledge of telecom asset data, network inventory and site hierarchy.
• Familiarity with TOGAF, DAMA CDMP or similar data‑architecture frameworks (preferred).
