HLP Team Leader

About the role

The HLP Team Leader will head the Humanitarian‑Legal‑Protection (HLP) Rights Monitoring project for The Day After, a Syrian‑led civil‑society organization supporting a democratic transition in Syria. Based in Damascus, the role coordinates a network of field monitors across six governorates and ensures high‑quality data collection and analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the HLP rights monitoring team, setting priorities and ensuring timely delivery of reports.
• Coordinate daily with field monitors in Aleppo, Homs, Idleb, Hama, Raqqa and Al‑Hasakah, providing guidance and troubleshooting.
• Travel to field locations as needed to oversee data collection, verify findings, and support on‑the‑ground activities.
• Develop and maintain monitoring methodologies, tools, and data‑management processes.
• Liaise with partner organisations, local authorities, and donors to share findings and align activities.
• Prepare analytical reports and briefings for senior management and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in human‑rights or protection monitoring, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Familiarity with the Syrian context and the six governorates covered by the project.
• Ability to travel frequently within Syria and work under security constraints.
• Strong leadership, coordination and communication abilities.
