Partnerships Officer – UN Resident Coordinator Office

About the role

The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Damascus is seeking a Partnerships Officer to support the development and implementation of strategic partnerships that advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Reporting to the Head of the Resident Coordinator Office, the incumbent will advise the Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team (UNCT) on partnership planning, coordination, and monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Provide substantive advice on the UN Partnership Strategy and ensure alignment with the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
• Support a UNCT working group or similar platform to implement, monitor, and assess partnership initiatives, identifying emerging opportunities and adjusting strategies as needed.
• Coordinate with UN entities at country, regional, and headquarters levels to develop value propositions for local partnerships involving civil society, the private sector, and non‑traditional partners.
• Serve as a primary entry point for partnership inquiries, facilitating liaison and collaboration across stakeholders.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in developing and managing strategic partnerships, preferably within an international development or UN context.
• Strong understanding of the SDG agenda and the UN development system.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills to work with diverse partners and UN agencies.
