Senior Health Information Systems Expert

About the role

The Senior Health Information Systems Expert will provide technical and strategic support to the Syrian Ministry of Health, strengthening national health information systems, DHIS2 implementation, data governance and interoperability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the configuration, administration and architecture of DHIS2 at national level.
• Develop and implement health data governance frameworks, data quality assurance processes and routine audits.
• Design and deliver capacity‑building programmes for Ministry staff on health information systems and data management.
• Support interoperability initiatives using standards such as HL7 FHIR and OpenHIE.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Public Health, Information Systems or related field (or extensive experience with a Bachelor’s).
• 7–10 years of professional experience in health information systems strengthening, including DHIS2 implementation.
• Experience working with Ministries of Health in fragile or post‑crisis settings is strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and spoken English; working knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
