Accounting Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the finance and accounting function of our newly established operation in Syria. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance, accurate reporting, and efficient treasury and payment processes within a fast‑growing fashion retail group.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the finance and accounting department, covering accounting, tax, treasury, payments, management reporting, and ERP applications.
• Maintain daily accounting records in line with local legislation, company procedures, and approval mechanisms.
• Prepare and submit periodic tax returns, social security filings, and other statutory reports on time.
• Oversee automated cash and inventory integrations, ensuring continuous accuracy.
• Produce periodic management reports according to IFRS‑based accounting standards.
• Develop the annual budget, cash‑flow forecasts, and other financial projections.
• Monitor daily cash transactions, reconcile bank statements, and manage payment processes.
• Implement treasury, capital expenditure, insurance, and finance procedures set by the head office.
• Coordinate contractual and legal matters with external lawyers.
• Lead government inspections, internal and external audits, and ERP system improvement requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Public Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in similar senior accounting roles.
• Proven experience in manufacturing accounting, preferably in textile production.
• Experience managing integrated cash and inventory systems within a retail environment.
• Ability to work in a matrix organization, reporting to both a Country Manager and a Finance Director.
• Fluent Arabic (written and spoken) and sufficient English comprehension.
