Communications Adviser for Aid Fund for Syria

About the role

The AFS Communications Adviser will design and execute communications activities for the Aid Fund for Syria (AFS). Working from Damascus, the Adviser will position AFS as a transparent, accountable and impactful humanitarian financing mechanism, highlighting the Fund’s results and amplifying the voices of affected communities and local partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for AFS.
• Produce and disseminate content (briefs, reports, stories, social media posts) that showcases the Fund’s impact.
• Manage media relations and coordinate press releases, interviews and events.
• Collaborate with local NGOs, civil‑society organisations and UN partners to gather stories and data.
• Ensure all communications adhere to transparency and accountability standards.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communications activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communications within humanitarian, development or international‑aid contexts.
• Strong writing and editing skills in English, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
• Familiarity with the Syrian context and multi‑donor funding mechanisms.
• Ability to work closely with diverse partners and stakeholders.
