Driver - Humanitarian Mine Action Program (Aleppo)

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council's Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) program in Syria needs a driver to provide safe and reliable transportation and logistics support. The driver transports staff, equipment and supplies, supports field movements and daily operations, and keeps the assigned vehicle clean, serviceable and ready for use. The position is based in Aleppo, Syria, on a 12-month contract at salary level J2.

Key responsibilities

• Transport authorized DRC personnel on official duty and deliver goods, equipment and supplies to designated destinations
• Pick up and drop off passengers safely and assist with loading and unloading cargo
• Support procurement and supply activities by collecting and delivering goods between offices, projects and suppliers
• Collect and distribute mail and help with minor office moves such as furniture and computers
• Check the vehicle daily (fuel, oil, tires, brakes, lights), keep it fueled to at least half a tank, clean and roadworthy, and report maintenance needs
• Keep vehicle documents valid (registration, insurance, logbooks) and ensure the first aid kit, spare tire, tools, maps and emergency contacts are available
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks with trips, mileage, fuel use and passenger signatures; report accidents, damage and faults immediately
• Follow national traffic laws, DRC security procedures and approved movement plans, and perform other duties assigned by management

Required profile

• Secondary school certificate
• Valid driver's licence
• Good knowledge of the road network and traffic rules of Syria
• Excellent communication skills
• Arabic; good verbal and written English

Required skills

• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations
• Minor vehicle repair and mechanical skills
