Education Officer (NO-1), Temporary, 364 Days

About the role

UNICEF is recruiting a temporary Education Officer (NO-1) for its Homs Field Office in Syria. The post reports to the Education Officer (NOB) and provides professional technical, operational and administrative support throughout the education programming process, helping develop and formulate the Education Programme within the Country Programme. The appointment is for 364 days.

• Provide technical and operational support to programme implementation

• Support innovation, knowledge management and capacity building
• Integrate cross-cutting priorities into education programming

Required profile

• University degree in education, psychology, sociology or another relevant technical field
• At least one year of professional experience in programme planning, management and/or research in education
• Fluency in English and Arabic
• Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is desirable; previous UN or INGO experience is an asset

Additional desirable attributes: experience in accountability to affected populations, Education in Emergencies, government and implementing partner engagement, and country-level experience in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts. The role is assessed as elevated risk for child safeguarding purposes, so additional vetting applies. Visa issuance is handled by UNICEF and appointments are conditional on compliance with vaccination requirements if mandated.
