Finance Assistant – Daily Paid Assignment (Grade 10)

About the role

The Finance Assistant will support the Senior Finance Assistant (A12) in UNRWA's Finance Department at the field office in Syria. This daily‑paid assignment involves processing financial data, preparing documentation, and assisting with reporting under UNRWA’s financial rules and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Enter, verify and retrieve financial data in UNRWA’s ERP system, ensuring compliance with financial rules, FTI and BTI.
• Prepare and code documentation for financial transactions, maintaining proper records of agreements and payments.
• Respond to queries from expending officers, suppliers, contractors, banks and Area Offices.
• Assist in analyzing, checking and validating financial data and support the preparation of periodic reports.
• Perform diligent checks on supporting documents in line with policy and technical instructions.

Required profile

• Two‑year diploma in accountancy, finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum four years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping and financial work, including use of computerized finance systems.
• Proficiency in English and Arabic at UN Level II (reading, writing, listening, speaking).

Required skills

• Experience with ERP financial systems.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Access.
• Computerized finance system operation.

What we offer

• Daily rate of 27.12 USD (Grade 10) for up to three months, with possible extension.
