GBV Technical Officer (National UN Volunteer)

About the role

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is seeking a National UN Volunteer Technical Officer to strengthen Gender‑Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response across Aleppo, Idlib and surrounding governorates in Syria. The role focuses on delivering survivor‑centred services, supporting partners, and ensuring alignment with UNFPA standards and humanitarian response plans.

Key responsibilities

• Support the formulation and implementation of annual work plans aligned with the Humanitarian Response Plan.
• Maintain coordination with implementing partners, government counterparts, NGOs and UN agencies.
• Document and analyse GBV trends, lessons learned and best practices.
• Assist in advocacy, proposal development, donor reporting and visibility activities.
• Monitor project implementation, expenditures and compliance with approved work plans.
• Provide technical support and mentoring to partners in line with UNFPA standards and IASC GBV Guidelines.
• Strengthen women’s and adolescent girls’ groups and contribute to empowerment initiatives.
• Support Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities and GBV case management.
• Promote inclusion of persons with disabilities and engage men and boys in GBV prevention.
• Integrate GBV interventions with Youth, Gender, SRH and Population & Development programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in gender and development, psychology, social sciences, business administration or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in GBV prevention and response or related humanitarian programmes.
• Experience working with returnees, internally displaced persons and vulnerable populations.
