General Support Casual Worker (Maintenance)

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is looking for a casual worker to provide general support across its office and guesthouse facilities in Aleppo. The role involves hands‑on maintenance, minor repairs and basic administrative assistance to ensure a safe and functional environment for staff and guests.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out repairs and routine maintenance including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, flooring, heating and related works.
• Operate and maintain guesthouse generators, monitoring fuel, oil and filters.
• Replace light bulbs, perform minor fixes and report any technical issues to the line manager.
• Maintain garden and outdoor areas surrounding the office and guesthouses.
• Ensure office premises are clean, safe and fully functional; raise purchase requisitions for maintenance items.
• Support guesthouse upkeep, coordinate with housekeepers, conduct spot checks and monitor stock of cleaning supplies.
• Coordinate with HR & Admin on facility needs and report health‑and‑safety concerns promptly.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in a similar maintenance or handyman role.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional maintenance qualifications are a plus.
• Fluent in spoken and written Arabic; English is desirable.
• Punctual, reliable and knowledgeable of the local area.
