Mechanical Engineer – Infrastructure & Rehabilitation Projects

About the role

This position offers a Mechanical Engineer the chance to work on critical water supply, irrigation and building services projects in Syria under a United Nations framework. The role combines field coordination, technical design and support for procurement, providing exposure to a wide range of mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor installation of mechanical systems for potable water, irrigation, and borehole equipment.
• Provide technical input for procurement of pumps, valves, pipework and related machinery.
• Prepare and review designs for building services including HVAC, ventilation, fire‑fighting, sanitary drainage, medical gas and waste‑management systems.
• Assist in drafting tender documents, technical specifications, BOQs and cost estimates for mechanical/plumbing services.
• Perform mechanical calculations, support equipment selection and develop detailed drawings and scopes of work.
• Review contractor sub‑missions, shop drawings and oversee testing, commissioning, training and hand‑over of deliverables.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience with water‑infrastructure or building‑services projects.
• Ability to interpret technical standards and produce clear engineering documentation.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
