National Cancer Registry & Digital Transformation Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a senior expert to support the Syrian Ministry of Health in strengthening its cancer registry and digital health infrastructure. The assignment runs for 14 months, starting December 2026, and focuses on designing, modernising and integrating cancer registration systems with national health information platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement standard operating procedures, case‑definition manuals and data‑quality protocols for a national cancer registry.
• Configure and operate population‑based registry software (e.g., CanReg5, GRECC, Registry Plus/SEER*DMS) and ensure data de‑duplication and quality assurance.
• Integrate registry data flows with broader digital health systems such as DHIS2, applying interoperability standards like HL7 FHIR.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Informatics, Biostatistics, Oncology or related field (medical degree with oncology/epidemiology specialisation acceptable).
• Minimum 8 years experience in cancer registration, with at least 4 years in designing or modernising national or sub‑national registries, preferably in fragile or conflict‑affected settings.

Required skills

• Hands‑on expertise with CanReg5 or equivalent registry software.
• Knowledge of ICD‑O‑3 coding, IARC/IACR data‑quality standards.
• Experience with DHIS2, HL7 FHIR, and other health‑information interoperability frameworks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical/database tools for registry data management.
