Protection Assistant for Women and Girls in Emergencies

About the role

The Protection Assistant for Women and Girls in Emergencies supports CARE’s protection programme by implementing activities that safeguard women and girls in crisis-affected areas. Working under the Protection Program Officer, the role involves coordinating community‑based protection centres and mobile units across roving locations such as Der Al Zour and Raqqa.

Key responsibilities

• Implement protection activities with partners and manage referral systems in CARE community centres and mobile protection units.
• Supervise CARE volunteers delivering case management and referral services.
• Ensure the quality and safety of all activities in line with CARE’s mandate, international standards, and relevant humanitarian guidelines.
• Collaborate with the Protection Programme team, case workers and other programme staff to receive and act on internal referrals for psychosocial support (PSS).
• Assist in programme planning and implementation, coordinating with staff and volunteers from other programmes.

Required profile

• Experience working in protection or humanitarian programmes, preferably focused on women and girls.
• Ability to work under supervision of a Protection Program Officer and coordinate with multiple partners.
• Strong organisational skills to oversee volunteer activities and maintain programme standards.
