Protection & GBV Assistant – Damascus, Latakia, Deir ez‑Zor

About the role

The Protection and GBV Assistant will work at one of three community centres in Syria, providing safe, confidential and survivor‑centred services. Reporting to the Projects Coordinator and receiving technical guidance from the GBV/Protection Coordinator, the assistant will help deliver protection and gender‑based violence activities at the local level.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of protection and GBV programmes, ensuring adherence to international standards.
• Assist with case management, documenting cases while maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Conduct awareness‑raising sessions and community mobilization on protection and GBV issues.
• Facilitate referrals to specialised services such as legal aid, psychosocial support and health care.
• Maintain accurate records of activities, referrals and outcomes.
• Collaborate with local partners and stakeholders to strengthen protection networks.

Required profile

• Experience or academic background in protection, gender‑based violence, humanitarian assistance or related fields.
• Understanding of international protection standards and survivor‑centred approaches.
• Ability to work in a conflict‑affected environment and handle sensitive information.
• Strong communication skills in Arabic and English.
