Protection Officer - Case Management

About the role

The Protection Officer – Case Management will lead high‑quality protection case management for persons at heightened risk in Syria. Working under the South Area Protection Manager, the role supports DRC’s broader protection strategy and strengthens localized responses through close collaboration with community structures and service providers.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and receive referrals of individuals at heightened risk, ensuring compliance with DRC eligibility and selection criteria.
• Conduct thorough case assessments, develop individualized case plans, and coordinate appropriate protection interventions.
• Engage regularly with local community structures, NGOs, and service providers to secure context‑appropriate and sustainable support for beneficiaries.
• Maintain accurate case files, monitor progress, and ensure confidentiality and data protection standards are met.
• Provide regular case updates and reporting to the Protection Management team, contributing to trend analysis and advocacy efforts.
• Participate in capacity‑building activities for community partners to enhance local protection mechanisms.

Required profile

• Proven experience in protection case management within humanitarian or refugee contexts.
• Strong understanding of protection principles, IDP and refugee needs, and the Syrian displacement environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including local authorities, NGOs, and community groups.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and documentation skills.
• Commitment to DRC’s values of humanity, respect, independence, neutrality, participation, and transparency.
