Syria Field Coordinator

About the role

The Syria Field Coordinator will lead field access and operational planning for a research project in Syria. This consultancy role involves managing mixed‑method data collection, ensuring quality, and supporting analysis for actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and oversee field access and operational logistics across target areas, including Aleppo and Rural Damascus.
• Coordinate Arabic‑language quantitative and qualitative research activities.
• Recruit, train, and supervise enumerators and qualitative researchers.
• Engage with local stakeholders and participating communities to facilitate data collection.
• Conduct daily quality assurance checks and resolve field‑level implementation issues.
• Support contextual analysis and interpretation of research findings.

Required profile

• University degree in social sciences, development studies, economics, statistics or a related field.
• At least seven years of experience in research, evaluation, MEAL or field coordination.
• Proven experience managing mixed‑method fieldwork in Syria, with strong networks in Aleppo and/or Rural Damascus.
• Experience supervising enumerators and performing field‑level data‑quality checks.
• Native or fully professional Arabic proficiency and good working English.
• Strong understanding of ethical research, safeguarding and conflict sensitivity.
