About the role

The Key Expert – Cancer Treatment Protocols Expert will support the Syrian Ministry of Health in strengthening institutional capacity and governance for cancer care. The role focuses on developing, harmonising and implementing evidence‑based systemic anti‑cancer therapy protocols, especially chemotherapy, within a 14‑month EU‑funded project.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and harmonise national or institutional systemic anti‑cancer therapy protocols, with emphasis on chemotherapy safety and pharmacovigilance.
• Facilitate consensus‑building among clinicians, pharmacists and nurses to adopt standardised, evidence‑based treatment pathways across multiple oncology centres.
• Design and deliver structured clinical training programmes on protocol implementation, treatment sequencing and toxicity management.
• Create monitoring and evaluation tools to track protocol adherence, clinical outcomes and safety indicators.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification in Clinical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Haematology‑Oncology or Clinical Pharmacology.
• Minimum 10 years of clinical or technical experience in medical oncology, including protocol development or revision.
• Experience supporting ministries of health or national cancer‑control programmes in post‑conflict or early‑recovery settings.
• Excellent written and spoken English; working knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset.
