Community Mobilizer (Health & Nutrition)

About the role
The Community Mobilizer will lead community engagement activities for World Vision’s Health and Nutrition project in Damascus, Syria. Working under the project coordinator and manager, you will strengthen community participation, promote healthy behaviours, and improve utilization of primary health services.
Key responsibilities
- Establish and maintain relationships with community leaders, local authorities, health facility staff, faith leaders and Ministry of Health representatives.
- Facilitate inclusive community participation and support community ownership of health and nutrition interventions.
- Conduct regular community consultations to identify barriers to service access.
- Coordinate and train community health volunteers, supporting their household visits and awareness sessions.
- Identify, engage and build capacity of respected community leaders using transparent approaches.
- Plan, coordinate and implement health and nutrition awareness campaigns, ensuring outreach to women, children, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
- Distribute approved IEC/BCC materials and manage logistics for community events.
- Promote protection, safeguarding, gender equality, disability inclusion and accountability throughout all activities.
Required profile
- Experience in community mobilization, health or nutrition projects, preferably in humanitarian settings.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including volunteers, faith leaders and government officials.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to gender equality, disability inclusion and safeguarding principles.
