English Teacher (Full-Time) – Damascus High School

About the role

Under the direction of the school principal, the English Teacher will plan and deliver engaging learning experiences for high‑school students, fostering intellectual, social and emotional growth. The role includes supervising students, evaluating outcomes and collaborating with parents and the school community.

Key responsibilities

• Design, adapt and implement English curriculum aligned with MCPS standards.
• Provide instruction that reflects multicultural perspectives and integrates technology.
• Monitor student progress, assess outcomes and maintain accurate records.
• Supervise students in various school settings and ensure proper use of equipment and facilities.
• Participate in school meetings, programs and activities outside instructional hours as required by the MCEA contract.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Maryland state certification (or equivalent) in the appropriate field of education.
• Demonstrated experience teaching English at the secondary level.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, students, parents and the community.
