Explosive Ordnance Risk Education Officer

About the role

The Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) Officer provides technical analysis and implementation support for EORE operational planning, coordination, monitoring, reporting and quality management. Working under the Head of Operations, the officer helps UNMAS deliver standardized, quality‑assured risk‑education activities in line with International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), National Mine Action Standards (NMAS) and UNMAS guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive EORE needs, casualty and risk‑behavior analyses disaggregated by age, gender, disability and geography to guide strategic targeting and work‑plan development.
• Collaborate with the Information Management unit to manage IMSMA, 5Ws and casualty data flows, ensuring accurate entry and alignment with operational decisions.
• Draft, update and maintain EORE Standard Operating Procedures, technical guidance, quality‑management tools and training packages, and conduct QA/QC field monitoring of partner sessions.
• Support EORE grant processes, including calls for proposals, partner selection, technical evaluation, work‑plan review and performance assessment.
• Provide technical coaching to partner personnel, prepare training materials for national mine‑action authority capacity building, and track progress against benchmarks.
• Coordinate with the EORE Technical Working Group, Mine Action Area of Responsibility and inter‑agency forums, compiling field evidence into technical reports and briefing materials.
