Liaison Officer (Damascus, Syria)

About the role

The Liaison Officer will support MedGlobal’s engagement with Syrian government entities, ensuring smooth coordination for humanitarian and health programmes in Damascus. Reporting to the Syria Country Director, the role acts as the primary interface between the organization and ministries such as Health, Social Affairs and Labour, Higher Education, as well as public hospitals and health directorates.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate institutional approvals, registrations, authorizations and agreements required for programme implementation.
• Maintain constructive relationships with Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, Ministry of Higher Education and other relevant authorities.
• Coordinate closely with MedGlobal’s management and legal advisers to ensure compliance with Syrian regulations.
• Represent MedGlobal professionally in official meetings, workshops and coordination forums.
• Monitor changes in government policies and advise the programme team on implications for ongoing activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with government bodies in Syria or similar contexts.
• Strong understanding of humanitarian and health sector regulations.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholder relationships.

Required skills

• Fluency in Arabic and English.
