Maternal and Child Health Expert

About the role

The Key Expert – Maternal and Child Health will provide strategic and technical support to the Syrian Ministry of Health, strengthening maternal and child health services, nutrition programming, and health system governance within a humanitarian and early‑recovery context.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on policy and programme development for maternal and child health and nutrition.
• Support evidence‑based decision‑making and accountability mechanisms.
• Review technical programme designs, theories of change and implementation plans.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and build relationships with government counterparts and partners.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in public health, development or nutrition, with a focus on health‑systems strengthening in Syria.
• 3–5 years in a senior technical role providing strategic guidance for large‑scale, multi‑partner nutrition or health programmes.
• Demonstrated experience in maternal and child health and/or nutrition, and in translating evidence into policy.
• Strong project management, organisational and planning skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
