MHPSS Coordinator – North East Syria

About the role

The MHPSS Coordinator will lead the design, technical oversight, implementation, monitoring and strategic development of Médecins du Monde’s mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programme in North‑East Syria. Working closely with the Medical Coordinator and operational teams, the role ensures that mental health services are fully integrated into primary health care and community‑based health approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Design and supervise MHPSS programmes in line with organisational quality standards and humanitarian principles.
• Develop context‑adapted technical procedures and tools for MHPSS delivery.
• Plan and deliver capacity‑building activities for local health providers and community actors.
• Ensure protection mainstreaming and adherence to humanitarian standards across all activities.
• Represent Médecins du Monde in MHPSS cluster meetings and other coordination platforms.
• Coordinate with health and MHPSS sector actors, local authorities and community stakeholders.
• Travel regularly to operational sites in Raqqa, Hassakeh and Ain‑al‑Arab/Kobane to monitor implementation and provide technical support.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing MHPSS programmes in humanitarian or conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong knowledge of integrating mental health services into primary health care.
• Demonstrated ability to develop technical guidelines and conduct capacity‑building activities.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills with a focus on protection and humanitarian principles.
• Willingness to travel frequently within North‑East Syria.
