Movement Operations Associate – Beneficiary-Facing

About the role

The Movement Operations Associate supports beneficiary‑facing activities within IOM’s movement operations in Aleppo. Working under the Head of Programmes and a National Protection Officer, the role ensures safe, secure and dignified travel for refugees, migrants and other vulnerable individuals throughout all stages of resettlement, relocation and humanitarian initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate field support at airports, seaports, transit centres, camps and other facilities, ensuring beneficiary movements are conducted safely and appropriately.
• Arrange transportation of beneficiaries to and from consolidation points, guaranteeing comfort and security for vulnerable persons.
• Assist in the provision of food and essential items, collaborating with IOM units and service providers to meet quality standards.
• Handle special‑needs cases, including unaccompanied children and at‑risk migrants, in line with IOM protection policies.
• Process travel documents, exit permits and other pre‑departure formalities in coordination with external partners and authorities.
• Enter and update beneficiary data in systems such as iGATOR, MiMOSA, SAR and Amadeus, reporting any issues promptly.
• Provide interpretation and visa‑application assistance, including biometric capture and document collection.
• Undertake duty travel for meetings, trainings and programme activities as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma with five years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree in Social Science, International Relations, Regional Studies or related field with three years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience in movement operations, transportation management, or resettlement programmes, including direct communication with beneficiaries and handling sensitive personal data.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using movement‑operations databases and systems such as iGATOR, MiMOSA, SAR and Amadeus.
