National Finance Manager

About the role

The National Finance Manager will lead Treasury and Accounting functions for Save the Children’s Syria Country Office. Reporting to the Head of Treasury and Financial Compliance, the role ensures robust financial operations, compliance with donor regulations and effective cash flow to support programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day Treasury operations, including bank liaison, cash payments and cash‑balance monitoring.
• Oversee payroll, benefits and tax calculations to guarantee timely and accurate payments.
• Lead month‑end close, amortisation, account reconciliations and journal batch processing across the country and field offices.
• Prepare monthly financial reports for regional and central offices and maintain trial‑balance accuracy.
• Develop and update country cash forecasts, train field finance staff and ensure effective cash‑forecasting tools.
• Review program re‑classifications for donor eligibility and enforce SCI financial policies.
• Coordinate audit processes and provide induction and training on finance procedures and donor requirements.
• Collaborate closely with program and sub‑award units to address financial issues.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of humanitarian finance and donor compliance.
• Proven experience in Treasury, cash management and accounting within an NGO or similar environment.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to resolve balance‑sheet issues promptly.
• Effective communication and training abilities for field finance teams.
