Operations and Information Technology (IT) Officer

About the role

The Operations and Information Technology (IT) Officer will be based in Damascus and will support Chemonics’ Syria Education Programme II. The role ensures reliable IT services, strengthens digital security, manages IT assets and assists the Operations Manager in maintaining compliant operational processes across programme locations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line IT support to staff in multiple locations, handling hardware, software, connectivity, printer and peripheral issues.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems remotely and escalate complex cases to senior technical teams.
• Manage user accounts, permissions and access rights in line with organisational policies.
• Install, configure and maintain computers, software, printers and other IT equipment.
• Oversee inventory, tracking, maintenance and lifecycle management of all IT assets.
• Configure new workstations, map printers and train staff on effective use of office IT equipment.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, software updates, licensing and IT service schedules.
• Develop user guides and quick‑reference materials to promote digital security awareness.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering first‑line IT support in a multi‑site environment.
• Familiarity with hardware, software, networking and printer configuration.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues remotely.
• Experience managing IT asset inventories and lifecycle processes.
• Understanding of basic cybersecurity and digital security best practices.
