Palliative Care Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a senior Palliative Care Expert to support the EU‑funded Technical Assistance project for the Syrian Ministry of Health. The role focuses on strengthening oncology‑related clinical protocols, medication safety, multidisciplinary coordination, and quality monitoring to enhance patient‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and harmonise national and institutional chemotherapy protocols in line with international guidelines.
• Design and implement pharmacovigilance and medication‑safety systems for oncology services.
• Create monitoring frameworks, quality indicators, and evaluation tools to track treatment adherence and safety across multiple centres.
• Lead structured clinical training programmes for physicians, pharmacists and nursing staff on protocol implementation and toxicity management.
• Facilitate multidisciplinary technical working groups involving oncology, primary care and nursing directorates.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Palliative Medicine, Nursing or related clinical field; medical degree with specialisation in palliative care preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of clinical or technical experience in medical oncology, including protocol development.
• Demonstrated familiarity with WHO, NCCN, ESMO cancer treatment guidelines and adaptation to resource‑constrained settings.
• Experience working in MENA, post‑conflict or early‑recovery health systems is a strong asset.
• Excellent English communication skills; working knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.
