Palliative Care Expert – Technical Assistance for Syrian Ministry of Health

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Key Expert – Palliative Care Expert (Category II) to support the EU‑funded project strengthening the Syrian Ministry of Health. The role focuses on enhancing oncology‑related clinical protocols, medication safety, multidisciplinary coordination, clinical training and quality monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to develop and harmonise oncology clinical protocols, especially chemotherapy protocols.
• Design and implement pharmacovigilance and medication‑safety systems for chemotherapy administration.
• Develop structured clinical training programmes for physicians, pharmacists and nursing staff on protocol implementation and toxicity management.
• Create monitoring and evaluation tools to track treatment adherence, clinical outcomes and safety indicators across oncology centres.
• Facilitate multidisciplinary technical working groups involving oncology, primary care and nursing directorates.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Palliative Medicine, Nursing or related clinical field; medical degree with specialisation in palliative care preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of clinical or technical experience in medical oncology, including protocol development.
• Familiarity with international cancer treatment guidelines (WHO Essential Medicines List, NCCN, ESMO) and adaptation to resource‑constrained settings.
• Experience working in the MENA region or post‑conflict health systems is a strong asset.
• Excellent English communication skills; working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
