Project Manager – Northeast Syria

About the role

Relief International is seeking a Project Manager for its programmes in Deir ez Zor and Al-Hasakeh governorates. The role involves overseeing a diverse humanitarian portfolio, ensuring safe and effective implementation in a complex environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project planning, implementation and monitoring to meet donor and organisational requirements.
• Oversee programme and budget performance, resolving operational or financial challenges.
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress, engage staff and partners, and manage risks.
• Maintain high‑quality donor reporting and project documentation.
• Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, partners, donors and coordination bodies.
• Mentor and supervise programme teams, strengthening capacity in project management and compliance.
• Support proposal development, programme design and strategic planning for future opportunities.
• Integrate risk management, safeguarding and safety considerations across all activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in International Development, Project Management, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience managing humanitarian or development projects, including budgeting, reporting and stakeholder coordination.
• Experience managing teams in complex operational environments.
• Strong organisational, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑management skills.
• Experience with donor‑funded programmes; familiarity with SHF/OCHA, ECHO and US Government‑funded projects is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of sectors such as Health or Protection relevant to Relief International’s programming.
• Professional fluency in English; Arabic skills highly desirable.
