About the role
The Protection Case Management Officer (Caseworker) will deliver high‑quality protection case management for persons at heightened risk in Daraa, Syria, working under the guidance of the South Area Protection Manager and aligned with DRC’s overall protection strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and receive referrals of at‑risk individuals, ensuring compliance with DRC eligibility criteria and SOPs.
- Conduct case intake, risk assessments, safety planning, capacity‑building, referrals and follow‑up, and close cases according to SOPs.
- Visit households and conduct centre‑based interviews to assess needs and provide information on rights and available services.
- Develop and implement client‑specific action plans, assess risks and support cash‑for‑protection (C4P) where appropriate.
- Maintain up‑to‑date service mapping and strong relationships with local NGOs, CBOs and public service providers in Rural Damascus.
- Ensure accurate case files and weekly data entry into the case management database while upholding data protection standards.
- Advocate for clients to access services and represent their views in meetings with service providers and community structures.
- Participate in regular case review, supervision meetings and capacity‑building trainings.
Required profile
- Minimum two years of professional experience in social work, counselling or related protection fields.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate empathetically across diverse groups.
- Experience coordinating with local NGOs, community‑based organisations or public service providers.
- Understanding of community‑based protection and localisation principles is an asset.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect non‑discrimination and ensure client safety.
- Proven organisational skills, ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and comfortable using case management databases.
- Fluent spoken and written Arabic; working knowledge of English preferred.
