Relief Worker – Relief & Social Services Programme (Daily Paid)

About the role

The Relief Worker will support UNRWA's Relief & Social Services Programme in Syria, reporting to the Area/Camp Relief and Social Services Officer and under the technical guidance of the Field Relief Services Officer. The position is daily‑paid and involves field‑based activities to assess and deliver social assistance to registered Palestine refugees.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct desk studies and home visits to refugees applying for Social Transfer Assistance and Emergency Programmes, collecting socioeconomic data to determine eligibility.
• Maintain accurate records of families receiving assistance, update the relevant database, and prepare social study reports for approved, rejected, and closed cases.
• Identify refugees at protection risk or needing additional social work support and refer them to the Area Social Work Supervisor.
• Assess eligibility for short‑term emergency cash or in‑kind assistance and ensure timely delivery to eligible families.
• Follow up on families that have not collected their assistance and conduct periodic reassessments.
• Participate in surveys, studies, workshops, and meetings to analyse socio‑economic trends and improve professional knowledge.
• Travel within the field as required to perform duties.

• Ability to travel throughout the field and work in refugee camp environments.
• Commitment to UNRWA policies, procedures, and humanitarian principles.
• Capacity to work under supervision of senior relief officers and collaborate with other relief workers.
