Senior Finance Officer

About the role

The IMPACT/REACH Syria mission is establishing an independent finance structure in Damascus. The Senior Finance Officer will lead the finance team, advise senior management, and ensure timely, accurate financial workflows and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance team, establishing efficient financial workflows and ensuring compliance with donor and HQ procedures.
• Prepare, submit and monitor budgets, forecast spending, and provide financial analysis to senior management.
• Oversee accounting processes, including cashbook reconciliation, validation of expenses, and monthly financial reporting in donor formats.
• Coordinate with Acted Syria finance and IMPACT regional finance to align financial processes and support audits.
• Manage financial allocations, timesheets, cost tables and ensure accurate documentation for payments.

Required profile

• University degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field.
• Minimum 4 years progressive experience in financial management for NGOs, including budgeting, reporting and audit support.
• Strong leadership and ability to work independently, providing advice to senior management.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with accounting software such as 1C, SAGA or QuickBooks.
