Social Behavior Change (SBC) Team Leader – Latakia, Syria

About the role

The Social Behavior Change (SBC) Team Leader will coordinate and supervise a team of eight SBC Educators operating in Latakia and surrounding districts of Syria. Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the leader ensures that community‑based health promotion, awareness sessions, household visits and case referrals are delivered effectively and in line with project objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of eight SBC Educators and ensure implementation of planned awareness sessions, household visits and community outreach.
• Develop and monitor daily, weekly and monthly work plans, adjusting them to meet targets.
• Conduct regular field monitoring and supportive supervision to maintain quality and consistency of SBC messages.
• Facilitate linkage between communities and health services, overseeing case identification, referral and follow‑up.
• Provide coaching, technical support and identify training needs for the SBC team.
• Review data collection, ensure accurate documentation and submit weekly and monthly reports.
• Gather community feedback, address rumors or misconceptions and communicate barriers to health service access.
• Coordinate with health facility staff, community representatives and other project teams to streamline SBC activities.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safeguarding, PSEA and confidentiality standards.

Required profile

• University degree or diploma in public health, nursing, midwifery, nutrition, social sciences, community health or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in community health, health education, social and behavior change, or similar humanitarian programmes.
• Previous experience supervising field teams or educators.
• Strong understanding of community engagement, health promotion and referral mechanisms.
