Structural Engineer

About the role

This position offers a unique chance to apply core structural engineering principles within a humanitarian and development setting, supporting critical infrastructure projects in Syria. You will work closely with project specialists to gather data, interpret standards, and ensure high‑quality construction that contributes to resilient, sustainable recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyse structural components for water supply, irrigation, and related infrastructure, producing drawings, calculations, and scope of works.
• Prepare and review design briefs, reports, specifications, bar‑bending schedules and bills of quantities in line with client requirements and international codes.
• Conduct rudimentary structural analysis and research appropriate technologies for incorporation into project designs.
• Support project implementation by monitoring tasks, performing site inspections, and preparing inspection reports.
• Develop and apply QA/QC procedures, coordinate with architects, design engineers and quantity surveyors, and track delivery of design documents.

Required profile

• Degree in civil or structural engineering with experience in structural design and analysis.
• Familiarity with international design standards and codes of practice.
• Ability to work in a humanitarian context, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for quality assurance.
