Unreal Engine Technical Lead

About the role

Pancode is hiring a full-time, on-site Unreal Engine Technical Lead in Damascus. The role leads the technical design and implementation of Unreal Engine projects, including gameplay systems, tools and performance optimization. It covers code quality, development standards, architecture, testing and integration, and includes mentoring developers and coordinating task planning.

Key responsibilities

• Define modular C++ and Blueprint architecture, coding standards and review practices.
• Guide implementation and integration, mentor developers and resolve complex engine issues.
• Agree performance budgets with art and engineering colleagues and validate results on target devices.
• Estimate engineering work, flag dependencies and communicate technical risks with the producer and QA.
• Maintain technical documentation and share implementation knowledge so other developers can extend and support the systems.

Required profile

• 5+ years in game development, including at least 3 years using Unreal Engine and 1 year leading or mentoring developers (these periods may overlap).
• Experience leading technical teams, conducting code reviews and setting development standards and workflows.
• Background in real-time rendering, game engine architecture or interactive application development.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience shipping Unreal-based projects on any platform is highly beneficial.

Required skills

• Strong Unreal Engine expertise, including Blueprint and C++ development, performance optimization and engine-level debugging.
• Solid software engineering skills in object-oriented programming, design patterns and version control (e.g. Git).
• Ability to collaborate with designers, artists and product teams and explain complex technical concepts clearly.
