Vocational Training Instructor – Central Heating & Plumbing (Grade 9)

About the role

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) seeks a Vocational Training Instructor to deliver Central Heating and Plumbing programmes in the Damascus area. The role supports curriculum design, classroom and workshop delivery, assessment, and links with employers and the labour market.

Key responsibilities

• Support design and development of learning programmes, curricula and occupational analyses for HVAC, central heating and plumbing.
• Facilitate school‑based and work‑based training, preparing inclusive lesson plans and managing training venues, equipment and trainees.
• Prepare and conduct formative and summative assessments, including practical skills tests and OSH evaluations.
• Maintain relationships with employers, collect labour‑market information and contribute to skills‑needs analyses.
• Apply UNRWA TVET Quality Assurance tools throughout the training cycle.
• Support greening and digitalisation initiatives, integrating green and digital skills into courses.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a respectful learning environment and implement OSH measures.

Required profile

• Successful completion of full secondary education plus two years post‑secondary technical education or training in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Central Heating, Plumbing or a related field.
• No prior experience required; candidates must demonstrate relevant technical knowledge.
• Fluency in English (UN Level II) required; Arabic at UN Level II is desirable.

What we offer

• Daily rate of $25.63 (Grade 9) for a fixed‑term assignment up to three months, with possible extension.
• One day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service.
