Arabic-English Translator for Syria Education Programme

About the role

The Syria Education Programme II, funded by the UK FCDO, seeks an experienced Arabic-English Translator to support the production of high-quality technical and programme documents. The role involves translating, localising and interpreting for a UK-based team delivering education services in conflict-affected areas of Northwest Syria.

Key responsibilities

• Translate project proposals, reports, training manuals, communications content and donor deliverables between Arabic and English, preserving meaning, tone and cultural relevance.
• Localise programme materials to ensure they are appropriate for Arabic‑speaking audiences.
• Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretation during meetings, workshops and training sessions.
• Collaborate with programme departments to maintain consistent terminology across all documents.
• Manage multiple translation tasks under tight deadlines while adhering to confidentiality and FCDO quality standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience translating technical and programme‑related documents in Arabic and English.
• Strong understanding of cultural and linguistic nuances relevant to the Syrian context.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
