Fiber Network Planner

About the role

The Fiber Network Planner will design and optimise DWDM and optical transport networks, ensuring capacity, protection, and diversity are aligned with service requirements. The role creates implementation‑ready documentation for backbone, metro and inter‑site connectivity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop DWDM/optical transport plans covering wavelength allocation, channel mapping, OTN and equipment capacity.
• Design and validate optical paths, protection schemes, regeneration needs, ROADM/OADM usage (including CDC‑F ROADM), and power‑budget calculations.
• Analyse traffic demand, IP/MPLS requirements and translate them into wavelength and transport capacity plans.
• Review existing fibre routes, inventory, shelf/card/port capacity and wavelength utilisation.
• Coordinate with fibre planners, IP/MPLS planners, operations, vendors and implementation teams.
• Produce planning outputs such as trail/path records, equipment requirements, port assignments and migration plans.
• Identify risks related to capacity exhaustion, route diversity, optical impairments or inaccurate records.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Telecom or equivalent.
• 7+ years experience in DWDM/OTN/optical transport planning or engineering.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
• Strong stakeholder management and documentation skills.
