Senior Associate

About the role

SCLS Advisory is seeking a Senior Associate to join its on‑site team in Damascus. The role involves supporting the design, coordination and implementation of integrated legal, strategic and investment advisory projects, working closely with internal experts and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on legal and policy issues relevant to client projects.
• Draft reports, briefs, presentations and other deliverables.
• Contribute to project planning, monitoring and timely delivery of outputs.
• Engage with stakeholders, participate in meetings and workshops, and provide input on governance and rule‑of‑law strategies.
• Support investment transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate restructuring through legal due diligence and risk assessment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law; advanced degree in corporate, commercial, banking or financial law preferred.
• Significant professional experience in corporate and financial law, including joint‑stock companies, securities, investment portfolios and banking matters.
• Proven experience conducting legal due diligence, assessing regulatory risks and supporting investment‑related transactions.
• Background in strategic analysis or advisory work on governance, public policy or institutional development, preferably in transitional or conflict‑affected contexts.
• Fluency in Arabic and strong professional command of legal English.
• Experience working in Syria or similarly complex environments.
• Comfort using digital tools for research, collaboration and project management.
