Technical Manager

About the role

We are a leading contracting and building‑materials company located in the Damascus countryside, seeking a highly versatile Technical Manager. The successful candidate will lead our technical office, ensuring that architectural concepts are structurally sound, financially optimal, and precisely documented for flawless on‑site execution.

Key responsibilities

• Review, modify and approve architectural, interior design and shop drawings, guaranteeing seamless integration of structural systems and design aesthetics.
• Take full ownership of governmental approvals and permitting, securing building permits, civil‑defense clearances and utility connections.
• Apply engineering knowledge to evaluate structural feasibility, identify clashes, load issues and material limitations before construction.
• Oversee quantity surveying, material take‑offs and accurate cost estimation; manage project variations, negotiate vendor pricing and maintain strict budget controls.
• Monitor project schedules, critical‑path milestones and align technical submittals to avoid on‑site delays.
• Lead the drafting team or produce detailed construction, millwork and shop drawings using industry‑standard software.
• Analyze specifications, identify gaps between design intent and contractual obligations, and manage technical variations efficiently.
• Collaborate with site engineers, clients and sub‑contractors to resolve RFIs, ensuring compliance with local building codes and quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline (preferred).
• 10‑15 years of proven experience in a technical office or contracting environment, managing structural and high‑end fit‑out packages.
• Deep understanding of construction methodologies, structural elements (concrete, steel, aluminium) and building‑materials technology.
