Maternal and Child Health Expert

About the role

The Key Expert – Maternal and Child Health will provide strategic and technical support to the Syrian Ministry of Health, strengthening maternal and child health services, nutrition programming, and health system governance in a humanitarian and early‑recovery context.

Key responsibilities

• Support institutional strengthening and governance capacities of the Ministry of Health, focusing on evidence‑based decision‑making and accountability.
• Provide strategic guidance for large‑scale, multi‑partner nutrition and health programmes, reviewing technical designs, theories of change and implementation plans.
• Translate research evidence into policy and programme recommendations, ensuring alignment with donor requirements such as UNICEF, WFP or UNFPA.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in development, public health or nutrition, with a focus on health‑systems strengthening in Syria.
• 3–5 years in a senior technical role delivering strategic guidance for large‑scale, multi‑partner programmes.
• Proven leadership, stakeholder‑engagement and cultural‑sensitivity skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong project management, organisational and planning abilities.
